In Polk County, Florida, two women targeting housing developments walked into a KB Home office not to buy that new home but to steal realtors credit cards.? A dead woman’s stolen credit card

Laneea Mele Taufa, who is on probation for forgery, was arrested last week after police say she stole and used a dead woman’s credit card, police said.

Taufa was arrested in the 1300 block of West Isabella Avenue about 9 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of theft of a credit card, police records show.

The victim’s husband told police his deceased wife’s Shell credit card was stolen and used for $90.41 on Nov. 13 in the 2000 block of West University Drive, police records show.

Taufa was caught on a surveillance video using the card, records show. Taufa’s booking photo and the video match, police said. Taufa later told police she did use the stolen card.

Taufa was convicted of forgery two years ago and is on probation, records show.

Clearwater police arrested three Tampa residents around 2:15 a.m. Friday as suspects in a scheme to steal credit cards from elderly residents and use the cards to purchase goods. Christina Collins, 22, Cameron Collins, 18, and Sean Michael Whitaker, 26, are all suspected of entering an elderly woman’s home on Nov. 19 under false pretenses, then stealing her credit cards and personal property when she turned her head, police said. Christina Collins is suspected of using the stolen cards to purchase items worth more than $1,000, police said. Whitaker and Christina Collins also are suspected of being involved in a similar incident at a different residence on Oct. 25. The scheme possibly involved more residences, police said. Read more
